ACTIVITIES & OUTCOMES REPORT NOW AVAILABLE
The Activities and Outcomes Report presents the highlights of 
Converge and the directions needed for the maintenance and growth of our national media industry.
NATIONAL INDUSTRY CONFERENCE POSTPONED 
The IRCA Board have met and decided to postpone the national industry conference proposed for 7-9 November 2017 in Brisbane due to some of the required funding not being confirmed. This includes rescheduling the AGM, Board elections and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Media Awards. Stay tuned for further updates.

MEETING WITH MINISTER SCULLION
Daniel Featherstone and our Chairperson Dot West (by phone from Broome), met with the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion, in Canberra. They reported on IRCA’s progress to national peak body and the outcomes of Converge. Daniel presented the Minister with a letter from IRCA and Broadband for the Bush Alliance member organisations calling for Indigenous Digital Inclusion to become a Closing the Gap measure. This was a key recommendation from the Indigenous Focus Day at the recent Broadband for the Bush Forum.

Satellite television in Remote Indigenous Communities: one third missing out
The view from the 2016 Remote Indigenous Media and Communications Survey
It seems a long time ago now in terms of the speed of technology changes but the implications of the digital switchover of television in remote Indigenous communities in late 2013 is still being felt profoundly. Further investigation is required to identify ways in which television can be made available to the more than one-third of people who have reported being without access to television.

3KND KOOL N DEADLY WILL STAY ON AIR
MELBOURNE’S only Indigenous radio station will stay on the air after Darebin Council gave it a gift of a new home. 3KND Kool n Deadly will move from its longstanding headquarters in Mary St, Preston to the former Preston police station in Roseberry St.

INDIGENOUS TECHS TO POWER WIFI CONNECTIVITY IN CENTRAL AUSTRALIA
An agreement between Easyweb Digital and the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) will see Indigenous technicians looking after local wireless equipment.  The deal will leverage CAAMA’s existing expertise in media technologies, develop new technical skills in the wireless field, and create local jobs.

YIRRKALA CELEBRATES GRADUATION
Yirrkala Community celebrates graduation with forty graduates this week, who have completed a range of courses at the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.
The ceremony was the largest of its kind on record for Yirrkala, allowing students to celebrate their accomplishments with their friends and family in community rather than travel long distances to Darwin and Alice Springs.
