We've got a packed couple of days of learning and sharing together at the conference and then on Friday night we celebrate the First Nations Media Awards. In
addition, on Tuesday 22nd November, FNMA's inDigiMOB team will be holding the Indigenous Digital Leadership Forum. Previously known as the Indigenous Focus Day, this is an opportunity to bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people together to share
experiences and ideas about internet connectivity, digital tools, digital content and digital rights. The 2022 IDLF can be attended online OR in person at DoubleTree Hilton, Alice Springs NT. FNMA wants to make Converge as COVID safe as possible. As a fourth wave of COVID-19 is travelling around Australia, Converge participants have been urged not be complacent. Don’t travel if you are feeling sick. Please make use of available hand sanitizer, face masks and maintaining social distance. There will be plenty of space, so please spread yourselves out. If the meal areas are congested during break times, please make good use of the outside deck and the deck bar to create safe social distance. Delegates are reminded to wash your hands thoroughly and to cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing. If you feel unwell at any stage, please play it safe and distance yourself from delegates.

The FNMA News Initiative has completed training its group of 2022
Regional Reporters, as they continue to share stories from their regions with First Nations media organisations. Shortly we’ll also start our search for our 2023 Reporters.
Award-winning journalist Rachael Hocking has joined the News Initiative as the Editor. She is working closely with the Reporters, discussing story ideas and helping them produce their stories. David Liddle continues as FNMA News Initiative Co-ordinator.
The idea of the project is to continue developing a First Nations Newswire Service where stories are shared amongst First Nations media organisations, produced by our reporters, with other stories provided by the media organisations themselves. | The FNMA Archiving team has moved into a temporary digitising hub while the AIATSIS Todd Mall facility is completed. The office space in the Alice Plaza has been provided by Territory Families and Housing. This has given the team more room to set up storage racks and A/V digitising equipment.

NG Media's Training Vision
|
|
|
This year NG Media been cantering their training vision around ngapartji-ngapartji, which is essentially, 2-way sharing. The local Yarnangu community teaches our non-local staff about their culture, Language, way of life and shareable Tjukurpa (dreaming), and non-locals share their media skills
through formal and assimilated osmotic training. Osmotic training is when training won't be planned, however out in the field it naturally occurs, therefore the non-local staff are prepared to be adaptive and flexible with plans, as this form of training is usually the most successful. Local Yarnangu gain the skills to document their stories, music, culture etc through engaging with multifaceted forms of multimedia. Learning, celebrating and nurturing every multimedia outcome has created a diverse, fun and interesting radio station with content that the local listeners are genuinely interested in and the local team get to pursue a job that they really love to do. PAKAM at Stompem Ground 2022
|

|
The highly anticipated return of Stompem Ground was held Saturday 17th September in Broome WA. Stompem ground was first held in Broome back in 1992 the last one was in 2002. This year also celebrated the 21st anniversary of Kimberley Stolen Generation Aboriginal Corporation who organised this event along with the Mary G Foundation. This was a big event with close to 4,500 people attending. Pilbara and Kimberley Aboriginal Media
played a big part in broadcasting the event live on radio through PAKAM Radio, Goolarri 99.7fm in Broome and across the country on NIRS also live to television on ICTV satellite 601 and streamed to ICTVPlay and ICTV and PAKAM facebook page. They brought in some of their community broadcasters to participate in the live broadcast and also had help from ICTV Cameramen Ash Renehan and Will Thomson who drove over from Alice Springs. |
