Launched in early November, Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) and First Nations Media Australia announced FIRST SOUNDS, the new initiative bringing new and emerging First Nations music to the radio airwaves.

A series of music compilations will be curated by indigiTUBE and a panel of selectors including leading First Nations artists Leah Flanagan and Warren H Williams as well as Gavin Ivey, Program Manager at Sydney’s Koori Radio.

Amrap (Australian Music Airplay Project) will distribute the compilations to over 250 community radio stations and broadcasters. Artists will also feature on the Amrap website and on indigiTUBE.
Shellie Morris Joins First Sounds Panel
Celebrated singer-songwriter Shellie Morris has also joined the First Sounds panel, excited for the new pathways being created:

“What an amazing initiative supporting First Nations artists, and a great way to share our songs and music across this country, It is so important to have this opportunity for our First Nations Artists, creating opportunities and building a better nationwide perspective on our stories and culture. Through CBAA’s Amrap and indigiTUBE collaborating together, this will enable so many artists to get their songs out there to be heard and appreciated by so many.”

The closing date for entries has been extended to ensure First Nations artists, especially those in our remote areas, have enough time to submit their songs.

Get your music submitted by Saturday 14 December!
The First Sounds project is supported by Australia Council for the Arts
