SPEAKING TO THE HEART :: FIRST SOUND VOL.6 LAUNCHES // VOL.7 CALLOUT TO FIRST NATION ARTISTS ::
Today we drop another set of blistering-hot tracks with the release of First Sounds VOL.6. The latest volume features 12 fresh tracks heading straight for the radio airwaves. Featuring artists from Djugun (Broome) to Boonwurrung (Mornington Peninsula), from Yindjibarndi (Roebourne) to Noongar (Perth), Tarntanya (Adelaide) and Anmatjere/Warlpiri (Central Desert), we have compiled the expressive voices of First Nations music makers into one album. With sounds from RnB, rap, blues, country, desert rock, reggae and dance, this compilation transverses powerful stories about life and loss, strength and healing and the experiences of
being First Nations in so-called Australia. Djugun artist NIDALA kicks off VOL.6 with her deadly new single Colours of My People, a soulful indie-rock track that aims a powerful message at reconciliation in all forms.
"There is something so special about seeing my track side by side with so many other Indigenous artists. I love being a part of this amplified voice, being one of the representatives of representation! Makes me feel extra proud of being Aboriginal.” NIDALA. First Sounds delivers grass roots Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, with the album distributed to over 250 community radio stations and broadcasters, creating awesome exposure for our emerging First Nations artists.
