ABORIGINAL TENT EMBASSY - 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra, Ngambri-Ngunnawal Country. In 1972, the Embassy was set up on the lawns of Old Parliament House to protest the Government’s refusal to acknowledge Aboriginal Land Rights, it is still one of the longest running protest sites in the world.

The Embassy is significant and essential to First Nation people’s struggle for justice in this country, giving our people a platform to take their concerns directly to government.

DESERT EAGLES EXPLODE ON SCENE
:: Capturing the passion of their country, people, and community life::

Desert Eagles are an explosive musical collective from the Barkly community of Ali Curung in the Northern Territory – a melting pot of four tribes and a musical heartland for Walpiri, Alywarra, Waramungu and Kaytetye peoples. The band’s debut release is an explosion of rhythm, sound and energy capturing the passion of their country, people, and community life. Recorded at the Winanjjikari Music Centre in Tennant Creek, the Desert Eagles take off like a rocket on the back of the opening dance floor anthem ‘Arelh-Alywarra (Alywarra Woman)’ - a signature party starting firework that has been sending audiences wild from the very first notes.

The album continues to explore moments, places, and people from a sing-along hip-hop chorus to tender reggae-infused storytelling. A true journey and a not-to-be-missed snapshot into the heart of the Australian desert.
