COVID-19 Media Campaign Reboot
Over 2021–22, FNMA media organisations ran creative information campaigns about the COVID-19, supported by the Department of Health (DoH). COVID is still hurting communities across Australia, and FNMA and DoH are rebooting the COVID media campaign in early 2023. We are inviting FN media orgs to create and broadcast content on the following topics:
  • Booster shots
  • Kids’ vaccines
  • COVID anti-viral treatment
  • Vaccine hesitancy
  • Long COVID
  • COVID-related mental health issues
FNMA is calling for quotes from First Nations media outlets to produce and broadcast content through your station and networks:
  • Radio: live reads/ ads
  • Podcasts
  • Social media tiles
  • Videos
Scripts are also available which you can translate into ATSI Languages and make relatable to your mob.

If your org is interested in participating, please send a quote outlining:
  • What content your org will produce
  • Estimated production costs
  • Cost of run package (i.e. hourly X times per day for X weeks)

Please send quotes to FNMA Senior Policy Officer Eleanor Hogan, or call (08) 8952 6465 by 23 February.

Sudden Move for the Archiving Project
The First Nations Media Australia Archiving Project is back at Elder St, Alice Springs. The shared AIATSIS and FNMA Todd Mall facility building delay meant that last year the archiving team looked another space to set up the digitising equipment in.

Since September 2022 the project had been generously and securely housed in NT Government office space in Alice Plaza, in the centre of Alice Springs.  This interim space had meant that we could organise a good digitising workflow, and we were just across the road from the new facility when the time came to move.

However, on Thursday 2nd of February, the Chief Minister’s office urgently required the Plaza office space back. We had less than a day to move, but the team pulled together and achieved an amazing feat. Mark Denbow, AIATSIS Director of Alice Springs Project, was fortunately in town so he organised access to storage space and helped us move the valuable equipment as well. We moved as much of the gear as possible across Todd St to be safely stored out of the way at the new facility. The staff and a minimum of digitising equipment are now housed back with our colleagues at 70 Elder St.
