JUSTICE IS NOT COLOUR BLIND :: New feature documentary The Bowraville Murders release ::
In the tiny town of Bowraville in NSW, 3 Aboriginal children disappear. Three decades later, justice is still yet to be served.
The Bowraville Murders documentary is a heart-wrenching story, revealing extraordinary endurance, moments of cautious hope, and shattering defeat. Directed by Allan Clarke, a Muruwari/Gomeroi man, the documentary investigates one of Australia’s worst unsolved serial murder cases and the legal battle that followed.
Between 1990-1991, Colleen, Evelyn and Clinton disappeared from their Aboriginal Mission in Bowraville. Evelyn and Clinton’s remains were found off the same dirt road, while Colleen is still missing. A local white labourer was acquitted of the murders after a botched, racially biased police investigation.
The families of the children have been fighting for over 30 years for justice, taking them from their remote Aboriginal Mission on Gumbaynggirr Country, all the way to the High Court of Australia.
The Bowraville Murders tells the story of a failed criminal justice system in Australia, revealing the deep racism that exists. The feature-length documentary is set to premiere at the Sydney Film Festival in August, check out The Bowraville Murders documentary Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bowravilledocumentary for further screening details.
